Van Buren Dunes is a state park on the outskirts of South Haven, Michigan. They have two youth group sites, which are spacious and somewhat wooded. It is a short walk (about 400 yards) to the beach and the dunes. Concessions at the check in station offer firewood and ice (you cannot bring your own firewood, due to concerns about the Emerald Ash Borer). Sandy soil, so be sure to bring tent stakes suitable for sand. Not as crowded as Warren Dunes, being farther from the Chicago area. Our troop was last there in August of 2007. Their website is at http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/ParksandTrailsInfo.aspx?id=503
