Operated by our council.   Big camp (500+ acres) with a small river running through it.  A mixture of woods, savannah and ex-cornfields.  Some really pretty areas, some not so pretty.   A  place to do real camping  (including campfires not buried in a can etc.) on council owned property less than 90 minutes away.  No program unless it's part of an event such as a camporee.

Our Troop was there for Ranchoree in October of 2007. Nice place, trails through the woods and meadows. The scouts enjoyed playing on the riverside. On a clear night, the distance from Chicago and other cities is far enough for excellent star gazing conditions. We were there for the Orionids meteor shower and saw MANY shooting stars. It was also nice to be able to build a fire on the ground instead of a 55 gallon fire drum.
