Largest and best Scout camp in the world.  On a scale of 0 to 10, the program is a 10 and the property is a 10.  A mecca of Scouting and Scout camps.  200,000+ acres.  I could write a book about it.  Don't let "New Mexico" location give you the wrong idea about what this property is.  2/3 of Philmont is (in) the Rocky Mountains.

I second that. It is an amazing place and any scout should seriously consider signing up for a trek there. It can be a strenuous experience, but with some preparation before hand, it is well within nearly anyone's capacity to have a great time there. The mountains are beautiful and there are numerous staffed camps in the ranch with activities ranging from black powder rifles to gold panning and spar pole climbing. An excellent place to go backpacking.
